The story behind Narwal
The founder of Narwal, Rick, was born and raised in Rotterdam, also known as the largest port city in Europe. This has contributed to the fact that water has always played a major role in his life. His world trip eventually brought him to Cape Town, where his passion for swim trunks came to life. The beaches, the landscape, the relaxed population, and of course the creative style of the swim trunks is what inspired him. As a seasoned Rotterdammer, this was all a far cry, but something that made him decide to design swim trunks for his own friends and family. Sustainable mission
At Narwal, they use two different sustainable fabrics to make the swim trunks. One fabric is recycled polyester made from plastic bottles. The other fabric is a blend of polyester, spandex, and coconut shells with a minimum of 37% coconut fiber. These high-quality fabrics are produced locally in Asia, and all the necessary certificates are present upon delivery. These certificates are issued by a Dutch company, ensuring that Narwal can be sure of their authenticity.
After the production process is complete, the swim trunks are shipped to Europe by boat. Why by boat? Because this has the lowest impact on the total greenhouse gas emissions. When it comes to packaging and labels, Narwal also chooses the most sustainable option. For example, all mandatory labels and stickers are made from recycled materials. Narwal also consciously chooses to package the swim trunks in a "clean" way, minimizing the use of materials.
Working conditions
At Narwal, they not only value sustainability but also the working conditions of those who produce the swim trunks. The factory where the swim trunks are produced is located in Guangzhou, China.
